Data for decision-making
Girls face multi-faceted and context-specific barriers to learning: our diagnostic tools and approaches support stakeholders to gather, understand and use disaggregated data for decision-making.
Our solution design and delivery is consistently informed by and adaptive to local needs – we do not simply import solutions wholesale but consider local contexts critical to informing the direction of our work. We co-construct solutions with governments, schools and communities to ensure they are fit for context and maximise their impact. All of our solutions are informed by evidence, while our research fills essential gaps in knowledge about ‘what works’, meaning we can guide policymakers, donors and practitioners to make effective and efficient investment decisions – at both system and school level.
For example, in our TARGET programme in Ethiopia, our school leadership diagnostic tool analyses practitioners’ gender-responsive and inclusive schooling practices, enabling Woreda (district) officers to target professional development opportunities where they are most needed.
